FIRST LISTEN: ‘So Beautiful So What’ by Paul Simon (Concord Music Group)

So Beautiful Or So What

So Beautiful So What is due April 12, 2011. It was produced by longtime Paul Simon producer Phil Ramone (Still Crazy After All These Years, There Goes Rhymin’ Simon). Of the album Simon has said, “It’s the best work I’ve done in 20 years.” This means it should be his greatest album since his no. 1 platinum selling album Rhythm of the Saints (1990). Simon wrote all of the songs on the album and it carries his signature multi-instrumental sound and religiously tied lyrics steeped in fine pop prose.

Paul Simon Recording A New Album

Reportedly due out in late 2010, Paul Simon has already talked up the album stating, “It’s the best work I’ve done in 20 years”.  This is remarkable in that that puts this album on par with Rhythm of the Saints.  It is being produced by Phil Ramone who produced Still Crazy After All These Years, One Trick Pony, There Goes Rhymin’ Simon, and albums by Bob Dylan, Billy Joel, Elton John, James Taylor, Paul McCartney, Frank Sinatra, Madonna, and many more.  It also will feature bluegrass sounds from Doyle Lawson and Quicksilver on a track.

Releasing label has yet to be announced as Simon has rights to all of his catelogue.
