The collaboration doesn’t stop there.  The Avett Brothers are producing G Love’s next album due out next spring.  They met through a Paste Magazine introduction and it turns out that The Avett Brothers were heavily influenced by G Love’s earlier material.

Introducing Matt Costa (Brushfire Recs)

Matt Costa’s rise in the industry centers around good, honest music.  He recorded a demo tape at home in California which eventually was handed out to friends and reached Tom Dumont (guitarist for No Doubt).  Dumont invited Costa over and recorded several of the tracks for him.  This independent release was Costa’s first album Songs We Sing and it was later re-released by Brushfire Records when Costa signed with them.  He can be heard in a duet on Jack Johnson’s soundtrack to the film Curious George.

Costa songs have been featured in films including I Love You Man, Youth in Revolt, and Marmaduke.  Track Mr. Pitiful can also be heard in the iPhone 3GS Commercials.

‘I Love You’ by G. Love (Brushfire Records)

Check out this recent live demo by Philadelphia’s best, G. Love.  What??  You haven’t heard of him?!  G. Love & Special Sauce made their mark with hit songs such as ‘Baby’s Got Sauce’, ‘Cold Beverages’, ‘Dreamin’, and ‘Rodeo Clowns’ (co-written with Jack Johnson).  They launched Jack Johnson’s career and were subsequently picked up by his record label.  Most recently, G. Love has been touring with Jack and releasing love drenched and fantastic blues/hip-hop sounds — the kind that are unique to G. Love.  We are HUGE fans and suggest you check out G. Love’s very optimistic ’12:07′ videos too here.

Jack Johnson Launches ‘To The Sea’ Tour

Jack Johnson, the brilliant Hawaiian singer/songwriter with the golden touch, has embarked on his newest world tour. He has three no. 1 albums in the US and has sold more than 8 million records worldwide. His HUGE tour will largely resemble this week’s 20,000+ person kick off N. American show in Hartford, Connecticut. Jack Johnson is married to his college sweetheart who he wrote the hit ‘Bubble Toes’ in an attempt to romance.

According to a CNN News interview, this blog is AMAZING and Jack Johnson charitably gave away all of his touring proceeds both during his 2008 tour and again this tour. He can’t promise he will do it forever, but for the time being he is doing it. Read it here.
