Badly Drawn Boy’s “Too Many Miracles” on iTunes (8/26).

EMI Recs signed British singer/songwriter Badly Drawn Boy is preparing to release a new album on Oct 4, 2010.  It’s What I’m Thinking P.t 1–Photographing Snowflakes is going to be the first of a trilogy of albums.  This will be BDB’s 7th studio album.  First single “Too Many Miracles” is a simple and impressive track with excellent strings.  The lyrics are in keeping with tradition and fantastically romantical.  Check out the clip.

BDB won the 2000 Mercury Music Prize and in 2002 Q Magazine put him on their list of ” 50 Bands to See Before You Die”.

Introducing Lights (Doghouse Recs)

Canadian electro-pop singer Lights won the Best New Artist Juno Award in 2009.  She toured with Owl City and Paper Route in 2009.  Her debut album The Listening reached #7 in Canada and #129 on the US Billboard Top 200.  It was #4 on the US Heat chart.

‘World Spins Madly On’ by The Weepies (Nettwerk Recs)

The Weepies are Steve Tannen and Deb Talan.  They paired up as a duo after solo careers and later married.  The band gained notoriety for their second album Say I Am You reaching #1 on the iTunes folk charts and with the single ‘World Spins Madly On’ also reaching #1 on the iTunes folk song chart.  Their second album entered the Billboard Top 200 at #31 and their third album is set to be released on Aug 31, 2010.  Stay tuned.

Introducing Fistful of Mercy

In February 2010 Dhani Harrison (son of George Harrison of The Beatles), Ben Harper, and Joseph Arthur formed a new band.  They also hired legendary session drummer Jim Keltner (solo projects by 3 of The Beatles, Bob Dylan, Simon & Garfunkle, and many more).

Most remarkably, the band says they met and wrote and recorded 3 songs a day for 3 days until they had finished an album.  The album is titled As I Call You Down.

‘Here Comes The Sun’ performed by James Taylor & Yo Yo Ma

This rendition was released in 2008 on a Christmas album by Yo Yo Ma called Songs of Joy & Peace.  Yo Yo Ma is a Chinese-American cellist and composer who has won 16 American Grammy Awards and is considered one of the most famous cellist of the modern age.  He studied at Juliard School of Music, Columbia University, and Harvard University.  He was appointed to the Presidents’ committee on the Arts and Humanities (2009).

James Taylor is an American singer/songwriter who has won 5 American Grammy Awards.  He is a member of the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame.  His greatest hits album alone sold more than 12 million copies in the US.

The original version of “Here Comes The Sun” was written by George Harrison of The Beatles and released on the album Abbey Road.

Excellent New Music. Brandon Flowers (The Killers) performs ‘Hard Enough’.

At KROQ studio in LA, Brandon Flowers (Def Jam/Island Recs) performed a seamless rendition acoustically.  His current single ‘Crossfire’ went to #1 at KROQ.  This track will feature a duet with Jenny Lewis of Rilo Kiley (Warner Bros Recs).

Introducing David Hopkins (Unsigned)

David Hopkins is an Irish sensation.  As the original songwriter for LiR (W.A.R.?), Hopkins had a #1 album on the Alternative Irish charts and a Top 10 hit (Magico Magico).  Subsequently, he toured with The Who as a keyboardist and did session work with Matt Nathanson and others.  Hopkins’ solo work included a handful of Top 40 hits in Ireland including “Merry Christmas, My Love” and the classic “Amber & Green”. In 2010 Hopkins released a somber duet with Damien Rice (Warner Bros Recs) titled “There Are Debts”.

Hopkins’ music can also be heard on National Lampoon 2: The Rise of Taj, The Hottie and the Nottie, The Year of Getting to Know Us, Speed Dating, and MTV shows including Real World Austin.

‘Hands’ by The Ting Tings (Columbia Recs)

The song will be released Oct 11.  The duo’s first album was a #1 album in the UK and has sold more than 2 million copies.  This is another simple track but nonetheless its fun.

Introducing Matt Costa (Brushfire Recs)

Matt Costa’s rise in the industry centers around good, honest music.  He recorded a demo tape at home in California which eventually was handed out to friends and reached Tom Dumont (guitarist for No Doubt).  Dumont invited Costa over and recorded several of the tracks for him.  This independent release was Costa’s first album Songs We Sing and it was later re-released by Brushfire Records when Costa signed with them.  He can be heard in a duet on Jack Johnson’s soundtrack to the film Curious George.

Costa songs have been featured in films including I Love You Man, Youth in Revolt, and Marmaduke.  Track Mr. Pitiful can also be heard in the iPhone 3GS Commercials.
